Backgrounds

There are two methods for adding backgrounds to PowerPoint slides that are used more than other methods:

1) Slide Design-- Under the Format Menu is the Slide Design command.  Clicking that command opens the Slide Design Task Pane which allows users to apply preset formats to either selected slides or to all slides in a presentation.  Using these designs applies format changes to both backgrounds and to text objects that were added using the Slide Layout Task Pane.  Clicking the arrow on each preview opens a menu from which the user can apply the design to different slides.

2) Background Dialogue Box-- Under the format menu is the background command which opens the background dialogue box.  Under the preview of the slide, there is a drop down menu which gives choices for default colors or commands for opening a color pallet or for opening the fill effects dialogue box.  The fill effects dialogue box includes options for using pictures and other popular effects for backgrounds.
