To make presentations more interesting, authors can vary how one slide is replaced with the next on the screen.  Although slide transitions can make the presentation more interesting to look at and consistent use of similar transitions can give the effect of progressing through pages of text, overuse of slide transitions can be distracting to viewers.

To add slide transitions:
 
1) Open the Slide Transition task pane by clicking Slide Transition in the Slide Show menu (see Figure 1).

2) In the Slide Transition task pane, users can adjust various properties of the transition, including the speed of the transition and the timing of the transition.
