Online Discussion Prompts

The Edge books make excellent content for discussions in by high school students. Because there are dozens of pieces in each volume, I suggest the following prompts for online discussions: 

“You should have told us about...”

Post your thoughts: Read and summarize in 2-3 sentences one of the pieces (take the time to find one that piques your interest or that you agree with, or disagree with, or otherwise connect with).

Reply to others: In response to others' posts, reply with a sentence that begins “I wish you had told us....”

“Yeah... but”

Post your thoughts: Respond to one of the authors with “Yeah, but...."

Reply to others: When you reply to others' posts, begin with “You forgot to mention....”

“OK, now tell me..."

Post your thoughts: What is a questions your would ask the author? (Explain why you think this is an important question in 2-3 sentences.)

Reply to others: Respond to others with “Yeah, and another thing you have to tell us is...”
